Soup is something which my husband and I can have anytime of the year. Lentil soup is one of our favorites. We usually have something grilled along with this soup. This soup is not only easy to make, it is super delicious and filling.
So, here is the recipe:
Red onion- 1 medium size chopped
Garlic- 10 cloves
Tomato- 1 medium size chopped
Ginger- 1 inch crushed
Masoor dal (Orange lentils)- 1 cup
Kashmiri chilly powder- 1 tsp
Red chilly flakes- 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder- 1/2 Tsp
Cumin seeds- 1 Tsp
Water- 3-4 cups (depends on how thick you need)
Rice bran oil- 1 TbSp
Pink Himalayan salt- To taste
In a pan with oil, sauté ginger, garlic and onion for a little while. Now add cumin seeds, chilly powder, red chilly flakes, and turmeric powder. Sauté. Into this mixture, add tomatoes and after 3 minutes of sautéing add water followed by lentils. Let the lentils cook. Once it’s cooked, use a hand blender to blend everything well. The soup is ready.
